adonis 2004

I got asked a lot of questions over and over during this last four months about this contest, so here's where I'll do my best to answer as many as I can.

  • Why couldn't I vote for so-and-so? I like him better than any of these!
I pre-selected a very wide array of 32 contenders that I thought was fairly spread across all soaps. These were not picked in any way other than physical appearance and sex appeal. After that, you were the ones who voted, so blame yourselves! :)

  • You expect me to believe so-and-so got voted off? You cheated!
No I didn't. I just counted the votes. It is within the realm of possibility that the majority of voters do not agree with your personal preferences.

  • Did these actors know about the Adonis contest?
Good question! I know for a fact that two of them did: Grayson McCouch and Brody Hutzler. I know this because the heads of their respective fan clubs passed it along to them. From what I understand, Grayson blushed when told of how well he was doing in the contest, and Brody said he was very flattered. I would guess it's safe to assume that some of the other finalists may have heard about it through the grapevine, but I do not have confirmation of that. I would love to know the reactions of the rest of them, particularly Justin Bruening and Mark Collier, since they finished at the top.

  • Who did you expect to win?
Eric Winter. I kind of expected the last surviving DAYS guy to win, once he didn't have any more competition from his co-stars. Plus, he won Best Hunk in this site's most recent poll. But then it looked clear to me that he wouldn't win in the first few weeks of the finals, when he kept placing in the bottom group. But give him credit: he hung around a long time under some tight circumstances and ended up placing No. 3: not bad!

  • Who did you want to win?
Obviously my first choice would have been my wild card pick, Don Diamont, whom I must say, did very well and better than I know a lot of people thought he would. My second choice would have been Eric Winter, although I am a fan of all 12 finalists.

  • What has been the biggest surprise for you in the contest?
There were plenty, but probably the out-of-nowhere eliminations of Jason Cook and Cameron Mathison. Both of them were near the top of the polls the weeks prior, and then their fans abandoned them to the point of elimination the next week, probably because they were busy saving people who were in the bottom three the week before. I am especially sure of this with Jason, since his fans were very likely to use their votes to save Eric Winter that week, since he was in the Bottom Three the week prior.

  • Was I really limited to three votes per week?
It was weird. Some people thought they only had one vote (although the three vote limit was sitting there in black-and-white). But some people thought that the three vote limit didn't apply to them and voted as many as SIXTY times in a week. Well, they tried to, at least. My program tracked IP addresses and I tossed any ballots beyond the third.

  • Why did you never use my comments in the Adonis shows?
This one is funny. Some people I used multiple times because they were really good at submitting the types of comments I was looking for. A HUGE number of people said things like "He is SO HOT!" and I just wasn't going to use anything that dullsville on a show. I really got tired of the very-common "You have to ask why? JUST LOOK AT HIM!!" comment. There were weeks when I had this comment submitted for every single finalist!

  • Was that really you talking on the Adonis shows?
Yes, that's really me. Yes, my voice really is that deep. No, I am not a DJ nor a phone sex operator.
