  • What does the winner get?
Still no real prize. I guess I should create some kind of hunky naked man trophy, huh?

  • Did Adrian Bellani really attend one of the results shows?
Yes, he really did. Two of them, in fact. Here's the proof. He was a real sweetheart.

  • What soaps are you watching these days?
The one I tape is PASSIONS, really just to gawk at Adrian Bellani, Mark Wystrach, Eric Martsolf, and laugh with Tabitha, Kay, and Endora. I also record ATWT to follow the Nuke storyline which is pretty damned watchable so far. (I won't speak to the rest of the show, e.g. Carly drowning in an oatmeal quicksand sinkhole.) I catch a bit of DAYS and Y&R on TiVo, but seldom watch the whole thing. AMC is recovering somewhat from its worst-of-all-soaps 2006 slump. OLTL has been pretty good lately, too (especially any scene featuring Tuc Watkins). B&B, no thank you. GL, I hear you're good but just can't get into you. GH, I do watch you about an hour a week, but you gotta bring back Laura to have me back in your clutches full-time.

  • Why wasn't my favorite soap hunk, (fill-in-the-blank), included?
I get this one every year. Check here to see if your guy was in the original pool of 32 semifinalists. If your guy didn't make it from that pool, blame the voters. If he wasn't among that group of 32, blame me.

  • Who were the judges that picked the wildcards?
This year I went with the two people who contribute more pics to my site than anybody else: superherofan, the awesome capper who just started his own site at superherofan.net. And after a year of being sidelined, I welcomed back my pal DaveId, the founder of Dreamcaps. DaveId's pick, Thad Luckinbill, finished 8th; mine of Mark Cameron Wystrach nabbed 10th; and supes' Austin Peck did, um, 12th.

  • Did the finalists know about Adonis 2007?
Adrian Bellani obviously did. Eric Martsolf did, and mentioned it in an offsite webcam session. Brandon Beemer knew, too, and teased that he knew James Scott would win. (Pretty smart, Beemer!) I think James Scott was generally aware of it. As for the others, their fansites may know something I don't. Lemme know if you know something I don't!

  • Who did you expect to win?
Even before the onslaught of Brit ballots came in, I expected the reigning 2006 Soaphunks.net Award winner for Best Hunk to win, and he did.

  • Who did you want to win?
    Duh.

  • What was the biggest surprise for you in this year's contest?
Well, things don't surprise me in Year 4 the way they did when this contest was in its infancy. Guys who are one spot out of the bottom three getting eliminated the next week is expected now. Well-organized fansites and MySpace campaigning always improves a contestant's chances. But even I was taken aback by the sudden burst of support for DAYS' underrated Bryan Dattilo, whose only Adonis experience thus far had been a last place finish in the 2004 race. But lo and behold, his LUMIshippers made him a force to be reckoned with in 2007, with a very strong 4th place finish that for a while made it look like it was gonna be an E.J./Lucas Final Two. Way to go, Bryan!

  • You mean I could have voted 1,000 times a week?
Well jeez, it was right there in black-and-white on the ballot. It pays to read that stuff, sometimes, people. :)

  • I voted 1,000 times a day, not a week. Did my ballots get deleted?
    Uh-huh!

  • I voted 10 times in a row with different e-mail addresses from the same computer. Did my votes get deleted?
See answer to previous question. (What did you think that acknowledgement statement on the ballot that you wouldn't do that meant?)

  • Will there be an Adonis 2008?
We'll see. It's a lot of work for an in-demand boy like me!

  • You sure were a cheerleader for Adrian Bellani during the results shows...how do we know you didn't cheat for him?
Because I am a grown man who doesn't act like a petulant child. Also because the winner gets no real prize for winning and I get no real prize for giving it to him. And ALSO because James Scott won each week by a completely dominating margin.

  • What's next?
Aside from regular picture updates, the next big feature is unveiling of the 100 Most Memorable Moments in Soap History, which will debut sometime this autumn. And then of course, there's always the 9th Annual Soaphunks.net Awards, which are an annual end-of-the-year ritual around here that many site newbies get confused with the Adonis contest. You can see results from the first eight awards here.
