the 100 most memorable moments in soap history

"This is your fault! It's always been your fault! First the father, and now the son!"

The greatest scene ever to air on Y&R, and the best use of history I've ever seen on a soap. After having fallen off the wagon (unbeknownst to his family), Phillip Chancellor III (Thom Bierdz) lost control of his car and ended up in very serious condition at the hospital. His wife Nina (Tricia Cast) and infant son are by his side as he slips away, but what elevates this scene to all-time classic status is who is left with the body just afterwards. Nina, the baby, Cricket (Lauralee Bell), and Rex (Quinn Redeker) clear the room, leaving the two grande dames of Y&R: Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) and Jill (Jess Walton). Harkening back to 13 years earlier, when a drunken Katherine killed Phillip's father in another car crash, Jill looks up at her nemesis with grief and disbelief. The vicious circle of these two women's interconnected lives had robbed Jill of both of the men she loved the most. A perfect 10.
