When Thaddeus James Martin (
Michael E. Knight) came back to Pine Valley in 1983, the scared, abandoned boy who was adopted by Dr. Joe and Ruth Martin (

Mary Fickett) had morphed into a small-time con artist looking for his next mark. He found one in Liza Colby (
Marcy Walker), a spoiled teenager and rival of Tad's sister, Jenny (
Kim Delaney). Liza gave her virginity to Tad and the two began a torrid affair. During their relationship, another woman caught Tad's attention: Liza's mother, Marian (
Jennifer Bassey), a bored wife looking for excitement. The moment Marian and Tad gave into their mutual attraction, All My Children introduced soap fans to "Tad the Cad," perhaps daytime's most famous and popular Casanova. Only a remorseless manwhore would bed mother and daughter at the same time, and only an actor of Knight's caliber could actually gain popularity while doing something so daring and downright sleazy.
