the 100 most memorable moments in soap history
As ABC's LOVING was winding down for its cost-cutting metamorphosis into THE CITY, characters naturally started dropping like flies at the hands of a grisly serial killer. Pivotal Corinth residents like Stacey, Cabot, Clay, Curtis, Isabelle, and Jeremy all were offed in different ways, which was shocking enough. But the writers saved the biggest shock for last: the Corinth serial killer was in fact show matriarch Gwyneth Alden (Christine L. Tudor). Making someone we thought was the ultimate heroine into the ultimate villain was enough to jolt what few viewers LOVING still had, just as the show itself got the axe.
