Newly single and looking to start a family, Liza Colby (Marcy Walker) asked her good friend Jake Martin (Michael Lowry) to donate his sperm so she could have a child, no strings attached. Jake agreed and was fine with not being a part of his child's life...at first. Then, Liza's ex-husband Adam Chandler (David Canary), a man the Martins despised, started getting more involved in Liza's life. When Liza and Adam reconciled, Jake decided to sue Liza for custody of the child. But, the child Liza was carrying was Adam's, not Jake's. Adam secretly bought the sperm bank and replaced Jake's donation with his own so Liza could have his child. One by one, Jake's loved ones found out, but no one could bear to tell Jake because he had become excited about being a father. In fact, in a rare twist in these types of storylines, the only person who wanted Jake to know the truth was the person who did the dirty deed-Adam. When the judge gave custody of the child to Jake, Liza was forced to reveal the truth in the courtroom.
